Extension activities (NSS, YRC and other NGOs)
Rajagiri has two units of NSS which received best NSS Unit Award in the year 2009- 2010, Best Principal Award 2011 and Best Programme Officer Award 2011.
The NSS unit organizes a week long “Rural Sensitization Camp” every year in which all the students enrolled in MSW, BSW, PGDAHS, MCA, MBA, MHRM and BLISC take part. They also take part as volunteers for different social connect programmes conducted by different government departments & organizations.
The College has 3 Units of YRC in which 150 students are members. Main activities of these 3 units are :Participation in Youth Red Cross Orientation & Annual Camps, Participation in training programmes like First Aid, Protest March against Bhopal Tragedy Verdict, Tree plantation, Socio Economic survey at Vallarpadam, Palliative Care Day observation ,Participation in Minimarathon for road safety awareness, Awareness campaign against domestic violence at Ernakulum, Blood Donation Camp etc .Donation of an amount of Rs.5000 for a needy child at Lakeshore Hospital mobilized from the YRC members, Oncology ward visit at General Hospital Ernakulum. Students also assist many NGOs in organizing special programs.
Live Labs (NGOs)
Rajagiri has to its credit, the unique contribution of introducing the concept of live-labs in linking the theory and practice of applied sciences like Social Work and Management. They also serve as a vital link between the institution and the community. The students of the department of social work are closely associated with the different projects of the livelabs as part of their curriculum.
Rajagiri Free Drug Cell
Free Drug Cell working in the Government Hospital, Ernakulam is initiated and operated by the Department. More than one lakh people are benefitting from this cell every year. Students are actively involved in mobilizing the resources, procuring medicines, meeting the sponsors etc. Free Drug Cell has a new tie up with Police Association of Ernakulum District. During the year 2010-2011 medicine worth Rs. 11,04,335.00 was distributed to the patients.
Rajagiri - Kudumbashree collaboration
Students of the Social work department do their field work practicum with Kudumbashree in the panchayats of Ernakulam district.
