VISIT TO KUSUMAGIRI MENTAL HEALTH CENTRE

The students of RCBSR visited the Kusumagiri Mental Health Centre on 2nd March 2017. Firstly, an orientation about the hospital and its services were given.

Then the students were taken to different wards of the hospital. In every ward the students were allowed to freely interact with the patients and caregivers. They were taken to the Adult Psychiatry OP and IP department, Child Psychiatry section, Navajyothi centre for Behavioural Sciences, Nirmala Training Centre for Exceptional Children (Autism) and Rehabilitation Centre.

The students were given the opportunity to observe the therapy procedures followed and identify the differences in therapy procedures given in each section.

 

School of Social Work  

Orientation Training conducted for MSW students by the Bureau of Vigilance and Anti- corruption Staff and Social Work students from Yashwant Rao Sivaji University, Sathara visited the College and interacted with the staff and students

In-House Seminar

In commemoration of World Mental Health Day (October 10th), an In House Seminar on ‘Psychology Of Gambling, Alcohol Addiction And Drug Addiction’ was conducted. Dr. Sanju George, Psychiatrist, Rajagiri Hospital was the chief resource person who spoke about the Psychology of Gambling addiction. Prof. Annie Sebastian, spoke about Psychology of Alcohol and Drug Addiction.

International Conference

The International Conference commenced on 21st October 2016.The Chief resource person Dr. John Carrey, Professor, University of Massachusetts, spoke about Adlerian Psychology and Educational Improvement. He spoke about the important Interventions and Key Concepts in Adlerian Psychology. The Adlerian interventions discussed included Positive Discipline, Parent Education Programs and Problem Focused Teacher and Parent Consultation. The key concepts included the Drive towards competence, Encouragement-Discouragement phenomenon, Discouragement and the Goals of Misbehavior, Natural and Logical Consequences and the different Strategies to Redirect Misbehavior. The different aspects in family that lead to problem behaviour in children were analyzed. Towards the end, several Behaviour Mangement methods were discussed and its usefulness evaluated.

Psyesta

On 17th February, 2017, RCBSR conducted a National Psychology Fest, with participation of psychology students from various states across the nation. Eight events were hosted for the fest. The events included, Mandala or sociofaces, Psychokinetics or Synchrodance, Impromptu or extempore, Catharsis or Debate, Stimulus Response or Word Salad, Anamneis or Memory Games and Psychopedia or Quiz.

Workshop on “Business Presentation skill

 

Rajagiri School of Commerce, in association with Department of Professional Studies, Christ University Bangalore, organized a two day workshop on “Business Presentation skills on 26th and 27th August, 2016. The session was handled by Ms.Milan Singh, Mr.Sreekumar Ravindrakumar , Mr.Athul Thomas and Mr. Nischay Singh.

 

 

 

 

Independence Day Celebration 2k16

 

As part of Independence Day celebrations held at the college premises, on 16th August 2016, YI members hosted a Coin Exhibition, where 14 UG students of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences contributed around 4832 coins, which were displayed inside the outline of handmade Indian Map. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Joseph I. Injodey,Executive Director, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences by placing the final coin..

 

 

EDLIGHT 2K16

The School of Commerce hosted an Intercollegiate Presentation Competition EDLIGHT2K16 on 30th August 2016. The main aim of the event was to provide the UG students from various colleges a platform to showcase their presentation skills and to give the participants an opportunity to interact with students of commerce from various institutions. Mr. Jugal Thacherry, Co-founder and COO of Ruby Seven Studio, was the Chief Guest.

Dr B.Ramesh, Principal of Presentation College and Mrs Patricia Jannet Netto, Rtd HoD St. Xaviers College, were members of the jury. There were 27 participants from 9 colleges. St Xavier’s College for Women, Aluva, won the First Prize, SCMS College the Second Position and Sacred Heart College, Thevara Third.

Value Added Programmes

Value added programmes are extra-academic programs, enabling students to acquire additional qualifications along with their regular academic program.Value added programmes are introduced in the curriculum of the Rajagiri School of Commerce (RCSS) to improve the professional skills of the students. The main highlights are:

    • Better understanding of the opportunities of commerce
    • Enabling the students to gain an edge over other B.Com graduates
    • Imparting a professional calibre to the programme.

Accordingly, sessions are conducted by resource persons from relevant sectors, mainly CIMA, ACCA, Logistics, MBA preparatory, Insurance and Banking. Students are sorted into different batches based on their academic records and language and accountancy skills and preference.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Rajagiri School of Commerce

ED Cell organise events to provide students with business insights and entrepreneurship models. It will cultivate the entrepreneurial skills and values among students, in order to develop knowledgeable and enterprising graduates. ED Cell will help those keenly interested in a start-up venture in networking and with mentoring sessions. Overall, these will be done without losing values, morals and ethics.

RHYTHM OF READING

In the living Memory of Dr.S.R.Ranaganathan, Father of Library Science in India, celebrated as the National Librarian’s Day on Tuesday 09th August 2016 at ST.Mary’s Convent Orphanage, Ernakulam.As part of the programme which will be conducted by Rajagiri College of Sciences were jointly organized with Fr.Moses Library & School of Library Science Department a book donation campaign in the name of RHYTHM OF READING for setting up a library in St.Mary’s Convent Orphanage.The collected books were handed over by Dr.M.D.Baby,HoD Library & Information Science to Sr.Teresa Maria, CMC ,Convent Superior. She had taken a session about the importance of reading.Dr.M.D.Baby along with orphans are jointly cutting the birthday cake and distributing the sweets in the remembrance of the birth Centenary of Dr.S.RRanganathan.

Clean Kerala Green Kerala

Nature club in collaboration with Clean Kerala Company Limited, organised a workshop on E-waste management on 15 th July, 2016. The function was inaugurated by Mr. Kabeer B. Haroon (M.D Clean Kerala Company Limited).Who also delivered the keynote address.

Microsoft Saksham : 23-28 May, 2016

Rajagiri School of Commerce coordinated a 6 day workshop on ‘Microsoft Tools for ICT Enabled Learning Experience,’ for faculty members from May 23-28, 2016. The workshop included introduction to tools like Sway, OneNote, Office 365, Movies using PowerPoint, Office Mix, SharePoint, Yammer, Skype for business, Kodu Game Lab, etc. It was attended by 28 faculty members from both Kalamassery and Kakkanad campus, apart from teachers of RPS/Jeevass. The course facilitator was Mr. Ankit Agarwal from NIIT, New Delhi.

Environment Day celebrations (by Nature club) :4-7 June, 2016

Nature Club, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, initiated Environment Day Celebrations on Saturday, 4th June, 2016. It was followed by a weeklong celebration of events including Essay writing, Cartooning, Slogan and Power Point presentation competitions in order to create awareness among the students about the importance of protecting the Environment. Activities for the Year 2016-17 were inaugurated by Mr. Geo Jose (State Convener, National Alliance of People’s Movement).

Student Wing of IQAC : June 7th and 23rd, 2016

Core Committee meeting of Student Wing of IQAC consisting of 14 group leaders was held on 7th June and 23rd June, 2016. Action plan for the year was discussed and evaluation of results 2015-16 was held during the meetings. Improvement strategies for efficient newspaper reading, Power Point Presentation on ‘Students Vacation Program’ and ‘Peer Group Learning’ were discussed.
