K.P.Paul Entrepreneurship programme based at Thrissur facilitated by outREACH had its fourth phase inauguration on September 10th at Pastoral Centre Seminar Hall. The event was inaugurated by Mr.Francis K.Paul, Managing Trustee, K.P.Paul Foundation. 20 new beneficiaries indulging in varied entrepreneur activities were provided with seed money.

The Entrepreunership programme of M/s.English Indian Clays Limited in association with RAJAGRI outREACH has extended it for three years, in Thonnakkal village as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives.

Onam Souhradam a one day gathering of all sponsored children belonging to 18 centres of Sahrudaya Services and Charities and RAJAGIRI outREACH was held on 20th September 2013 at Rajagiri School Auditorium .The programme was inaugurated by Fr.Jose Alex CMI Provincial of the Sacred Heart Province of the CMI and Presidential address rendered by Shri. M.P Antoni, Project Director RAJAGIRI outREACH The key note address was delivered by Shri Joby Mathew(5 gold medalists) at World Dwarf Championships held at USA in the month of August 2013. Ms.Anagha Raju , a sponsored student from Aaratupuzha was awarded Higher education Scholarship by the Sponsor Ms. Beena Mathew for pursuing MBBS at Govt medical College,Thiruvananathapuram.

As a part of the SuchitwaBodha Yajnam, Vinjayana Yathra was held from 28 September to 2nd October 2013.The mission of the Yathra was to generate and spread awareness on the technical aspects related to Waste management, Biogas Generators, Use of Renewable Sources of energy, Environment Protection, and Healthy Lifestyles. The yatra covered Aluva, Kalady, Muvattupuzha and Kochi Corporation on the days listed. The Yathra evoked a good response.

JALANIDHI

The projects at Kunnanthanam and Aarakulam are progressing well.At Kunnanthanam,3 milestones set for the project has been achieved.The World Bank team had visited both the project sites,and Aarakulam received special appreciation for its well followed system for documentation.

outREACH is the Support Organisation for the Phase II Jalnidhi Projects at Puthenchira and Annamanada belonging to the Thrissur District. Agreement and project execution was commenced in the month of August..

RAJAGIRI outREACH in association with Indian Oil Corporation organized a mega medical camp at Udayamperoor Panchayath. Services in Allopathy, Ayurveda and Homeopathy were given to 605 participants. Medicines worth Rs 2lakhs was rendered on the day.

KERALA CHILD RIGHTS OBSERVATORY

With an Objective of setting up a Child Rights Observatory in Kerala to play the role of a social watch committee that keeps a close observation of all the actions, commissions and omissions of different stake holders that have a say in the well being of the children in the state, RAJAGIRI outREACH in association with UNICEF, Chennai organized 4 regional level consultations at Trivandrum (August 3rd), Ernakulam (July 24th), Thrissur (July 30th) & Kozhikode (14th August). Participants from Govt. departments and NGO sector attended the session either as resource persons or as participants. The concluding State level Consultation was organized at RTTC, Trivandrum on 24th September 2013.

Mr. M.P Antoni, Project Director, RAJAGIRI outREACH has been elected as the State Convenor of KCRO.

SHG Management Training Programme for SHG leaders of Vijayapuram Social Service Society,was held at Munnar on September 2013.

Induction Training for JALANIDHI staff of Puthenchira & Annamanada Gramapanchayath on September 2013.

Ms.Bilgi Denny, Mr.Viju.K.Charley attended NIPCCD Training on Mobilizing and Management of Community Resources for Voluntary Organisation on June 24-27, 2013. Mr.Ramdas.P.D attended Training on Financial Management and Reporting for Voluntary Organizations at NIPCCD from16 -19th July 2013

MrRajeev.S.R & Mr.Joshy Varghese were Resource persons for the State level UGC Seminar conducted by St. Xaviers College, Aluva on 30th August 2013.The topics dealt by them were Environment Oriented Personality Development and Consumerism and Environment respectively.

MEDICAL CAMP

outREACH in association with Chaitnya Eye Hospital held a free Diabetic and Eye camp at Tsunami hall Edavanakaad., on 29 th September.200 members participated in the camp.20 Cataract surgeries were undertaken and 135 members had sugar tested.

ELDERS DAY

Elders Day, observed on October 1st every year. The inmates from Kothad Day Care, centre observed Elders Day on September 30th. The Observance comprised of the 40 elders paying a visit to Lulu Mall, and then proceeding to Edapallly St.Geroge Church Parish Hall. It was a real day out for them. The programme was sponsored by Rotary Club Of Cochin Metropolis .

The Day Care Centre at Binanipuram, observed Elders day on October 1st,with 64 Elders coming together to join the days activities.

BOOMIKA

230 biogas generators has been supplied to Nedumbassery Grama Panachayath.

Bio gas-198 units of 4kg capacity/day has been installed at Chottanikara.52 units of the same capacity has been completed in Edakattuvayal Grama Panachayath .51 units of Bio gas generators of different capacities has been supplied to Perumbavoor Muncipality.74 units of 4kg capacity/day with water jacket has been installed Karukutty Grama Panchayath through Krishibhavan.

RWH -80 units of 10.000ltrs has ben fixed at KWA Kottayam, as a part of Varsha Project.

Baby friendly toilet-At wandayoor Block Panchayathmalappuram,150unitshave been completed of a total of 170 units.

  • Child line Kochi appointed a new Child Line Coordinator-Ms Jimble.
  • Ashposhini and News letter has been released.
  • Project Director, Mr. M.P. Antoni attended a conference on PEOPLE CENTRED DEVELOPMENT organized by Commact India and Commact International at Udaipur from Sept ember 11-12. He was privileged to present the paper on Child Rights.
  • outREACH has been chosen as a consultant of the Kerala State Planning Board for a period of two years. Area of work allotted is Social Work and Education. Empanelment to CSR hub TISS has been achieved, though a formal intimation of the same would be given only after the auditing process of outREACH is undertaken.

August 2013

  • Fund and Material distribution completed at all the Sponsorship Centres. 500 umbrellas,2533 bags, and 20,862 books were distributed.
  • Cotton Waste Manufacturing unit commenced at PerambaraThrissur,.9Beneficiaries,are operating on 3 machines, and they are gradually picking up the speed.
  • K.P.Paul Foundation Entrepreunersip programme at Thrissur, gave away the 4rth Phase of Loan distribution.
  • Jalanidhi at Aarakunnam Panchayath. Gram Sabhas completed in 15 panchayaths and 39 Beneficiary Groups formed. At Kunnamthanam implementation programme taken up- 30 BGs,21 open wells,.
  • UNICEF Child Rights Observatory facilitated by outREACH, to be taken up on a zonal wise basis.
  • Child Line Kochi gets a new coordinator .
  • Dyuthi the Annual International Conference of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences to be held on January 9th and 10th 2014 in the college premises. outREACH has been chosen as the partnering agency ,theme for the same being Community Mobilisation.
  • Need Assessment Study was undertaken at Edathala Panchayath as a compulsory field work curriculum of Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology. The study was coordinated by outREACH.

May 2013

  1. The 8th Organic fair was organized by outREACH at Town Hall Ernakulam from April 15-18th 2013.The fair was inaugurated byHon,,Min.P.J.Joseph (Minister for Irrigation) and the Pavillion inauguration by Shri P.Rajeev (MP).The food fest was inaugurated by Shri Benny Behnal(MLA) and Hiby Eden(MLA).Distribution of Organic foods was done by Shri Tony Chammani(Mayor Kochi Corporation).On 16th in relation to the Organic fair at NSH College Thevara,a Seminar was held the topics being –Green Politics of Western Ghats,Safe Food and Food Security. The fest had a good response among the public.
  2. Project U –(Entrepreunershp project for Women by Apollo) Cotton waste manufacturing project was commenced on 10/5/2013 at Aanathadam Kodakara Panchayath for 9 women beneficiaries.The function was attended by officials from Apollo as well as outREACH.The event was attended by other beneficiaries(Catering/BouquetMaking/Computers/) of Project U at Aanathadam .
  3. Souhradam the 3 day Non Residential Camp, was held for school children at all the outREACH functional centers spread over the entire state..A total of 56 camps were held with a participation of 7100 children.Theme chosen for the camp was “Life skills”.The Souhradam sangamam held at Tholur on needs to be mentioned.The function was inaugurated by Shri Ouseph Chittillapalli(V-Guard CEO).The highlight of the event was the submission of Organ Donation by 300 parents.
  4. Distribution of School kits(Bags .notebooks,umbrella) for sponsorship students’ at all centers is in the process.50 centers have completed the process.

February 2013

  • An event titled “Lantern “which was a get together of the 25 children sponsored by the MBA students of Rajagiri College of Business Studies from Chittethukara, was held at the Rajagiri Valley on the 3rd of February 2013. The event comprised of informative sessions {Personality development, talks on sexual abuse} film shows, and cultural programs. The title Lantern signified bringing in a new hope into the lives of the children.
  • Project U , the ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility program of apollo tyres implemented by RAJAGIRI outREACH has been extended for another year . The project is to be diversified to Pudusserymala {Ernakulam District}, Puthukaavu {Thrissur District} and Irapuram. The beneficiaries to comprise of 4SHG groups engaged in group activities – tailoring, candle making, bouquet making and catering.
  • Women Entrepreunership programme of English India Clay Ltd based at Thonekkal had seed product distribution(20goats) for 20 beneficiaries on 9th February.
  • An agreement signed with Aarakulam panchayath {Idukki District} for the Jalanidhi Project. Staff has been recruited for the same. Work to commence soon.
  • Boomika eco-park renovated. The park to be displayed as a role model for effective waste disposal. Organic vegetables and biocompost obtained from the park is being sold. (Photo)
  • Waste management project supply and commissioning of 238 units of potable biogas plants. Supply and commissioning of 100 biogas plants at Edakkatunayal Grama Panchayat.
  • outREACH participated in the India International Food and Agri Expo 2013 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi.The exhibition showcased agriproducts,agrimachinery,women entrepreuner ,and waste management products. outREACH showcased its Bio Gas components.
  • Information officer of outREACH participated as a judge in the district level judgment for Malayala Manorama event “Nallapadam”. It comprised of choosing the best school out of chose 300 schools.
  • Higher Education Scholarship under the aegis of Rajan and Grace Foundation was distributed to 29 students pursuing professional courses ons 23rd February 2013 .Anju P.S a former beneficiary of the scheme,presently a Sound engineer was awarded the RG outREACH Achievement Award .She being the sole woman member of her team is successfully pursuing the profession and has already carried out her work in 23 states.(Photo)
  • outREACH facilitated the allocation of budget amount of Rs50,000 from American Malayalee Association to the Sisters of Destitute based at Thevara to construct toilet for the destitutes.
  • Communication and Capacity Development Unit of Ministry of Water Resources funded by Central Ministry of Sanitation and Water chose 6 staff of outREACH as District faculty members,entitled with the responsibility of Jalashree formation in schools,and check quality of drinking water in Panchayath.The staff engaged NRHM,Asha workers,Health Inspectors in collecting 200 water samples from all Panchayaths by giving them appropriate training.They are in the process of computing the results.The water quality to be assessed in term of mineral/Chemical contents and presence of Coliform bacteria.
  • Child Rights wing of outREACH conducted one day training programme on 12th,15, and 16th February at Renewal centre kaloor for NRHM staff.(Junior Public Health nurses/Junior Health inspectors)A total of 547 participants participated in the training comprising of sessions on Child Rights/Child abuse/Existing Services and their role for improvising status of Children.
